Seattle Milk Fund builds stronger communities through access to educaton, childcare and temporary basic needs - empowering famiies to achieve self-sufficiency.
Seattle Milk Fund empowers low income parents toward higher education, by providing childcare grants and family support.
More than 1 in 5 Washington children, under the age of 6, live in poverty. Higher education is one of the most effective ways a parent can raise their family's income. A parent with a Bachelor's degree makes nearly twice as much as a parent with a high school diploma.
And, child care is expensive, creating barriers for parents who want to further their education and lift their families out of poverty.
Seattle Milk Fund removes these financial barriers and provides access to higher educations, degrees and certificates.
With the contributions of hunreds of dedicated members, donors and volunteers, Seattle Milk Fund supports low income families each year.
Volunteers offer encouragement from our students' first days of school through graduation day.
Members help produce successful events like our Annual Luncheon, Homecoming, and CookieFest, and sit on committees that select our grantees and provide support ongoing throughout their tenure with Seattle Milk Fund.
Our generous donors make funding grants possible. In 2013, SMF awarded 366 grants totaling $231,222.95. Since 1965, we have awarded more than $16M in program support to local families.
