Description

non-profit organization seeking a volunteer executive director to work with our board to continue the development of organization structure, find financial resources, and promote community development

MFRC was established in 2005. We are working toward the development of positive multiethnic identity for multiracial children, internationally adopted children, transracially (domestic) adopted children.

We teach dance, foods, history, music, visual arts, and communication skills from a multicultural perspective.

We teach parents the skills needed to raise children to have positive ethnic identities.

We also work toward helping children avoid drug abuse and violent behavior since multiracial children are the ethnic group with the highest propensity toward these problems as reported in a study done at the University of Washington.

The Multiracial Family Resource Center has a mission in line with my own personal goals of helping families and individuals to know and stand proud of who they are, however they identify themselves. MFRC helps biracial/bicline families and families of multiple heritages to understand the challenges they may face in our society today, and provides tools of empowerment to deal with such challenges. It brings equity to relationships, which brings respect, understanding and hopefully love. I know members of the MFRC. They have their hearts in the right places and freely give of their time and energy. They all volunteer, educate, and are currently building a base for facilitating support groups throughout the country. There are many who could use their assistance and resources.
