CONNECT at Jewish Family Service, Los Angeles

We are looking for volunteers to escort frail seniors and adults with disabilities on daily errands they may need assistance with. We aim to assist our clients in remaining independent with dignity.

CONNECT is an innovative program funded by the city of West Hollywood and developed by Jewish Family Service of Los Angeles. Our research revealed that while the agency and the city offered a multitude of resources to help seniors remain independent in the community, many were unable to take advantage of the resources on their own. For example, a client may be able to get in and out a subsidized taxi, but is unable to lift her items in the market and to then carry them on her own. CONNECT recognizes that the majority of clients want to be out in the community doing the errands themselves as opposed to having someone complete errands on their behalf. We seek to create long term matches so that companionship is a benefit for all.
