Light Heart Foundation is a nonprofit organization that has been conducting intergenerational programming for 10 years. As a volunteer you will receive training in innovative community building strategies and then join with teachers, elementary students, college interns, elder residents and staff to coordinate Project H.U.G. in local schools and senior residential facilities where intergenerational projects such as gardening, biographical interviewing, visiting, photography are conducted. Project H.U.G. is a service learning program that Light Heart developed to assist schools in providing students skills to become future leaders and stewards of our communities, while at the same time alleviating the isolation of our seniors in facilities.
