Mission Statement

The purpose of the I CARE volunteer program is to provide transportation to doctor appointments for senior citizens living in DeKalb County. The program is designed to enhance and promote the quality of life, independence, and dignity of those served.

Description

Drive a DeKalb senior to the doctor - help him or her stay healthy and independent!

I CARE is a nonprofit serving DeKalb County seniors who, for financial and medical reasons, have no other means of transportation to medical appointments. The riders value both the access to health care and the caring companionship provided by the volunteers, many of whom are recent retirees. For volunteers, I CARE creates an opportunity to share themselves through not only their time and service, but also through reaching out and sharing themselves with others. Some volunteers drive once a week or more, others once a month- all are needed and appreciated. State law protects the volunteers from liability, and I CARE also carries excess auto insurance.

A caring and sharing organization that provides free (round trip) rides to DeKalb County older adults 55+ years. Rides are provided to doctor's, clinics, medical appointments, grocery and pharmacy runs. I Care volunteer drivers have shown that they care for senior clients for over 25 years as an approved IRS 501 c 3 organization. The rides you accept are voluntary and work with your personal schedule. This is an organization with genuine purpose.
