Description

Yaowawit School is a government-approved welfare boarding school for children from underprivileged families.

Located in the south of Thailand, the school was founded initially to help the children who were the victims of the 2004 tsunami. Over the years, the school has expanded and refocused its mission and goals to help the children who are the victims of poverty.

Some of our children are orphans. Some others were left uncared for, abandoned, abused or exposed to violence, prostitution and even human trafficking.

At the heart of Yaowawit, we empower these children with practical education so that they have skills and knowledge necessary to get a job or to continue their education to a higher level.

To our surprise, despite their difficult upbringings, these children actually strive. They do their best to excel in school, sports or creative programmes. They’re optimistic and happy.

If you see them yourself, you’ll know that they’re grateful to have the opportunity to reach for a better future.
