Mission Statement

To provide training that prepares our students to pursue professional careers in theater, film and television; and to provide engaging and entertaining learning opportunities for youth, seniors and adults which enable them to experience theater and recognize its importance to their own lives.

Description

Since 1961 Circle in the Square Theatre School has trained over 5,000 actors. The School is a 501(c)(3) organization and is accredited by National Association of Schools of Theatre.

This is the only conservatory in a Broadway theater. Alumni include many stars of stage and screen.

In 1995 the School started providing Outreach Programs that include: Outreach Performances (Three Plays for Grades K-6 and Festival of Theater), which serve over 10,000 NYC residents each year; Playwriting Residencies, in which a whole grade write original short plays that are then performed on our Broadway stage; Teens on Broadway, in which NYC performing arts high schools present their best works on our Broadway stage and receive expert guidance to promote best of what goes on at their schools via social media; and Arts Education for Actors, a teaching artist training program for Circle graduates.
