Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) is the #1 voluntary health organization in the United States for people living with muscular dystrophy, ALS, and over 300 other neuromuscular conditions. For 75 years, MDA has led the way in accelerating research, advancing care, and advocating support and inclusion of families living with neuromuscular disease. MDA's mission is to empower the people we serve to live longer, more independent lives. We are excited to host the MDA Muscle Walk to bring our MDA community together to raise funds to further our mission. We are looking for a committed photographers to assist MDA Staff with capturing our families, sponsors, and supporters enjoying event day. We are committed to ensuring that your volunteer experience is a rewarding one, while helping to fuel MDA’s mission. Join us for this rewarding event. Timing: The volunteer commitment will be on May 4, 2025 at Forest Park Upper MUNY Parking Lot from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM. Volunteer Requirements: This opportunity will require the ability to be outdoors, engage with MDA Families, Vendors and Sponsors with a positive and professional approach.

MDA Summer Camp is a magical week-long experience designed specifically for kids aged 8-17 with neuromuscular disease. At camp, campers enjoy adaptive activities like swimming, zip-lining, horseback riding, and dancing under the stars-all at no cost to their families thanks to our generous supporters. They also get the chance to foster lifelong friendships with other kids who understand what it’s like to live with a neuromuscular disease. We’d love for you to apply to join us as part of the MDA Summer Camp Medical Team! As a Medical Team volunteer, you’ll play a vital role in creating a safe, fun, and unforgettable environment for these campers. You’ll help ensure the health and well-being of campers and volunteers by: Administering medications. Delivering first aid and providing emotional support. Reviewing camper health forms and maintaining treatment documentation. Monitoring equipment and supplies to ensure campers can participate safely. Assisting with emergency decision-making as part of the camp leadership team. Medical Teams may consist of individuals with the following active licenses: Physicians (MD, DO) Physician Assistants Nurses (APRN, RN, LPN) Certified Medication Technicians Pharmacists Respiratory Therapists Physical Therapists Medical Team Requirements: Hold an active license in the state where the Summer Camp is held. Be able to follow MDA established rules and policies. Always willing to put the campers’ needs first. For consistency of care, it is preferred that volunteers remain on-site for the entire Summer Camp week. However, shorter shifts may be available based on the needs of each camp. Other Requirement Details: A completed application consists of a Reservation submitted via, UltraCamp, as well as: Signed and dated Physical form (from within the last 12 months). Copy of the front and back of your insurance card. Copy of your immunization record and COVID-19 Vaccine Card (if separate). Two completed professional references. Background Check.

Each summer, hundreds of volunteers serve as counselors and medical staff to walk alongside campers through the best week of the year. We’d love for you to apply to join us as a volunteer counselor! As an MDA Summer Camp volunteer, you’ll play a vital role in creating a safe, fun, and unforgettable environment for these incredible 8 to 17-year-olds. You’ll share in the magic of camp through assisting campers with activities, providing emotional support, and supporting daily routines such as dressing and bathing. Virtual Opportunity
MDA’s Mentorship program is looking for experienced professionals from a variety of fields to volunteer as mentors for youth with neuromuscular disease. Working with MDA staff, volunteer mentors will lead a group of 4-6 youth through a real-world project related to their field while also sharing their higher education and career experiences. Volunteer mentors play a key role in helping participants discover their own strengths and interests. Career Explorations February 19 - March 19 For youth ages 14-18, this session will explore various career paths such as business, marketing, fashion, technology, engineering and more. Participants will rotate through several mentorships while completing interactive activities to discover their strengths and interests in various fields. Qualifications: · At least 22 years of age and established in a field such as business, technology, engineering, fashion, marketing, finance, law, communications, scientific research, etc. · Desire to mentor and encourage youth to discover their skills and interests. · Ability to meet with MDA Staff for two or three 45-minute planning sessions in November/Early December 2024. · Ability to commit to two 90-minute live video sessions each week as well as participate in discussion boards throughout the 5-week session in early 2025. ( Video sessions will be held on the same nights each week and will be based on availability of the majority.) · Experience working with people with a neuromuscular disease. Professionals living with a neuromuscular disease are especially encouraged to apply. What You Will Do: · Identify 1-2 projects relevant to your industry that fit within the scope and time frame of the program. * Work with a co-mentor to lead a group of 4-6 youth through one of those projects. * Collaborate with MDA staff to encourage participant engagement and accessibility of projects. * Mentor participants and potentially provide letters of recommendation (if allowed). * Share personal experiences navigating college and career.
