Description

educate -- adopt -- foster -- referrals

Akita Advocates began November 2004 to help find homes for displaced Akitas. Since then, we have rescued over 400 dogs and found them new, loving homes. We are a group of dedicated volunteers with a passion for helping dogs who cannot help themselves.

AARTA is a member of CABRA, PACC911, and an Akita Club of America rescue.

Before finding our Akita orphans a forever home, each is spayed or neutered, microchipped, licensed for Maricopa County, AZ, and received required vaccinations. We have treated: bloat, entropian, hip dysplasia, Valley Fever, low thyroid, cancer and much more. For Akitas needing better manners, basic obedience commands are taught.

We don't have a facility --- all our Akita orphas are either fostered in homes that can accommodate them, or in private boarding. This keeps the numbers of dogs we can help at any given time much lower than we would like --- we hope you can help.
