Description

YOUTH TO YOUTH (Y2Y)was founded in 1982 in Columbus, Ohio, as a community-based drug prevention and youth leadership program focusing primarily on middle school and high school students.

From its inception, Y2Y recognized that nationally and internationally, action needed to be taken to change attitudes and behaviors surrounding drug usage in this generation or the resulting conditions would only worsen. Y2Y developed a plan for success with teens as the nucleus. Due to the continuing achievement Y2Y has in the areas of youth involvement and drug prevention at a local level, hundreds of communities in the United States and abroad have chosen the program model to help facilitate favorable change.

Y2Y's successful model of youth-led prevention has been applied to other areas of prevention as well, such as bullying, dating violence, prescription drug abuse, and more. Recognizing the need promote overall health and well-being for our teens in preventing not only substance abuse, but other mental health issues as well, Y2Y's prevention activities encompass overall healthy youth development and leadership.
