Description

Guardian ad Litem Advocates serve as a voice for abused and neglected children involved in court cases as a result of having been abused or neglected.

Guardian ad Litem voluntters serve as a trained advocate in court by getting to know the child and the child's case and by preparing a report to help the judge understand what is best for the child. You work together with an attorney advocate to ensure that the child's rights and best interests are presented to the court and to ultimately find them a safe, permanent, loving home.
Everyday, Guardian ad Litem volunteers throughout Mecklenburg County help children replace their world of fear with one of hope. They work to make sure abused and neglected children in the local community have strong advocates at their side. But there is still an urgent need for more volunteers. There are currently close to 500 children awaiting a guardian!
