GlobalAustin

Description

Established in 1960, GlobalAustin provides programs and services for visitors from around the globe to Austin and serves as the local contract agency to the US Department of State International Visitor Leadership Program. We arrange professional meetings and home hospitality for delegations of international visitors. Citizen Diplomacy Receptions, where the public is invited to meet the visitors, are arranged. Our programs focus on Citize Diplomacy. Citizen Diplomacy is the concept that, in a vibrant democracy, the individual citizen has the right - even the responsibility - to help shape foreign relations "one handshake at a time". Other programs include weekly Coffee Mornings for international spouses and families and scholarships that promote international exchange. We developed and maintain, in partnership with the City of Austin, the International Austin Events Calendar where international/intercltural organizations are invited to post their events and activities. We host the International Consular Ball, Austin's premier international event, honoring the 3rd largest Consular Corps in the nation. GlobalAustin has two full-time employees and an active 18-member volunteer board.
