Description
Habitat Stewards, Homeland Security, Tree Planting and Butterfly Gardening.
Oswego is an active and vital SEC that partnered with National Wildlife Federation and WildBirds Unlimited to establish yearly four-day training of Habitat Stewards. Partnering with Tree Trust, local businesses, Oswego County Environmental Management Council and Department of Soil & Water, this SEC has a replacement tree planting program for the towns of Hannibal, Fulton, Phoenix Lock Island in the Oswego River and Oswego soccer fields, and butterfly gardens for the Hannibal town hall and nursery school and Fulton elementary school. Oswego SEC has also begun an initiative in the area of Homeland Security by distributing brochures on the dangers of waste paint, eventually developing a regular collection of waste paints from homes of individuals who are unable to get to collection sites.
