Here's a sample of our volunteer opportunities:VIEW AS
"Helping people live better lives." Our clients stay in the comfort of their own homes while receiving dependable quality healthcare. As valued members of the Carter Healthcare team, our volunteers help our clients live their last days with dignity. We believe in providing our clients and the community with safe, in-home medical care as an alternative to prolonged and costly hospitalization. Our employees are encouraged to be enthusiastic patient advocates by providing our clients with direct contact to the community resources they need. Can you help us achieve our mission? Carter Healthcare and Hospice is JCAHO Accredited.
The goal of hospice is to enable patients to continue an alert, pain-free life and to manage other symptoms so that their last days may be spent with dignity. It is family-centered care that involves the patient and the family making decisions.
Hospice care involves a team-oriented approach to expert medical care, pain management, as well as emotional and spiritual support tailored to the patient's needs and wishes. Most hospice care is given in the home, with a family member or members serving as the main caregivers. Hospice care can also be provided in nursing homes or other long-term care facilities.
Volunteers assist by providing comfort to patients in various ways: sitting and listening, sitting and reading, offering prayer, light duties around the home, etc. The amount of time spent depends on the patient and the volunteer.
