The Fauquier SEC will address water quality issues along Cedar Run in Fauquier County.

The Fauquier SEC is in the process of locating 4 sites along Cedar Run in which to take water samples for quality control. Water quality will be determined through chemical analysis, macroinvertebrate ( aquatic insect) analysis and by walking the stream and evaluating stream and streambank conditions. Once the health of Cedar Run is determined, the volunteer teams will consider what type and where best to do a restoration project to improve the water quality of the stream. Restoration work can include planting native trees and grasses, placing riprap(rocks) along eroded embankments and removing invasive plant species.
