Mission Statement

EIM’s mission is to promote the advancement of education by developing interactive, student-led programs designed to foster leadership skills, complement and enhance educational curricula, and provide students with opportunities to actively engage with their own education.

Description

Education in Motion (EIM) seeks to serve the needs of students outside of the typical school day paradigm. Countless organizations are working hard to ensure that students in America have access to the best possible curricula, teachers, school facilities, etc. But what happens to students once the final bell rings?

That's where EIM steps in. We help schools create extracurricular programs, and then empower the students to transform those programs into events and learning opportunities for the entire community. Our established mission is:

EIM’s mission is to promote the advancement of education by developing interactive, student-led programs designed to foster leadership skills, complement and enhance educational curricula, and provide students with opportunities to actively engage with their own education.
This dual mission is fundamental to how we approach our work. At the core of our mission is the desire to create local, affordable extracurricular experiences for students. Unique learning opportunities like Model UN conferences are becoming increasingly large, centralized, and expensive, with students paying hundreds or even thousands of dollars each to travel to and attend the conference. The unfortunate effect of this trend is that students from low income backgrounds are becoming increasingly excluded from these activities. By creating low cost alternatives, we are reopening these valuable learning experiences to more students.

However, we don't want to create these conferences ourselves! Everyone on our staff was fortunate to have the opportunity to be students leaders, we know the significance that leading an extracurricular program can have on a student's development. For many of us, our time in our extracurricular programs shaped our college choices and even career paths (we created this non-profit at least!). Therefore, we want to empower the students to create these extracurricular opportunities for each other.

We empower student leaders in two ways:

  1. Providing risk-free seed funding for their activities - students and faculty never risk a cent of their own finances to embark on their new projects.
  2. Connecting students with a member of our Adviser Network who has extensive experience with their activity. This person advises the students as they grow their program.

EIM has already collected the finances and solicited the experts that can take your students' extracurricular program to the next level. So what are you waiting for? Apply today to make your students' project become an EIM program!
