When a home fire or other disaster occurs, those affected are often left without a home and all of their belongings. That's when the Red Cross steps in. Be a part of the compassionate corps of volunteers who are the helpers. As a Disaster Action Team member, you help with the immediate needs of a place to stay, food, clothes, toiletries, and other critically needed items. You also provide the comfort and compassion to individuals and families when they need it the most. When someone loses everything, you can be the shoulder to lean on and provide the much-needed guidance on what to do next. No experience is necessary and we will provide all the (free!) training you need. Other volunteer positions within our Disaster volunteer team include assessing the emergency and dispatching appropriately; follow up case work; and mental health, health and spiritual services.

The special attention you give helps create a favorable impression that encourages ongoing donor support. The Red Cross provides all the training needed and you can sign up for shifts that fit your schedule.
