Recovery Team Members support the disaster recovery of individuals, families and communities through the activities of casework, recovery planning, recovery systems and community recovery. This position is only for those who live in the United States. Responsibilities: Conducting client interviews Assess client qualifications for financial assistance Document the assistance and services provided to the client Assist with recovery planning, problem solving and advocacy Learn about recovery activities and develop knowledge, skills, expertise in casework Provide client with information and referrals to community partners Qualifications: Demonstrate commitment to the mission of the American Red Cross Be kind, caring, resourceful and knowledgeable Demonstrate an interest in learning about community resource organizations Demonstrate the ability to work well in stressful situations Is team-oriented Has basic computer skills Willingness and ability to learn and use Red Cross technology and reporting platforms Treat people equitably and works effectively with diverse populations Is client focused Had the ability to sit for 2-hour periods Lots of work can be done from home. Training is provided at no cost. Time commitment for this position can vary based on location and need. Are you a licensed health/mental health professional? Do you have compassion to share? Can you volunteer time each month or do you have time to travel? Members of the Disaster Health Team offer care and compassion to people when they need it the most! Whether it is traveling to a large scale disaster like a hurricane or wildfire or staying close to home to help individuals/families who have experienced events like a home fire, your help is needed! Some work can be done remotely. Qualifications: Currently licensed health/mental health professional (with at least a master’s degree): license from any US state or territory as a nurse, social worker, psychologist, professional counselor, marriage and family therapist or psychiatrist. Currently licensed from any US state or territory as a school psychologist or school counselor (with at least a master’s degree) Current psychiatric nurse with a state license as a registered nurse and a minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a psychiatric setting Responsibilities: Provide disaster mental health intervention to clients impacted by a disaster Participate in relevant meetings and activities as a member of the Disaster Health or Mental Health Team Participate in preparedness efforts Help facilitate long-term recovery for clients impacted by disaster Assist in developing partnership with local mental health agencies Support other disaster responders before, during and after disaster response This position is only for those who live in the United States. Disaster Action Team Duty Officer Make a difference in your community and never leave your home! The Disaster Action Team (DAT) Duty Officer ensures that response teams are sent where they are needed. While the team is out the Duty Officer monitors the team to be sure that they are safe and helps to allocate additional resources to the response as the team makes requests. Responsibilities: May determine if Red Cross action is required Uses event triggers such as size, scope and type to direct DAT response Works remotely with on-scene DAT leadership to support the response and provide technical guidance Dispatches DAT Team Monitors the response Ensures appropriate resources are made available Activates Disaster Health Services, Disaster Mental Health, Disaster Spiritual Care and Public Affairs when requested May be required to monitor activity across multiple DAT responses Notify chapter/regional staff of significant events Attends regularly scheduled team meetings Qualifications: Demonstrates leadership and communications skills Demonstrates a commitment to the mission of the American Red Cross Ability to remotely monitor and track details of DAT responses Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in complex and stressful situations Proficient at Red Cross systems and working online (training provided) Work on the computer for minimum of 1.5-2-hour period Speak clearly on the phone and in person Training is provided at no cost. Help Sound the Alarm! Save lives and prevent injury by being a member of the Home Fire Campaign team. Specific roles could vary, including being a member of home visit teams to install smoke alarms and educate residents, conduct neighborhood canvassing, facilitate planning events and more according to local program needs. Responsibilities: Support the annual preparedness goals by participating in meetings, projects and local activities Execute assigned projects Serve clients and/or support Red Cross team members in providing residents with free smoke alarm installation and fire safety education Complete tasks to help implement preparedness activities Attend meeting with community partners to build relationships Help conduct program inventory Help with receiving supplies Qualifications: Ability to relate effectively with diverse groups and individuals Excellent interpersonal skills Good verbal communication skills Ability to read, understand and review program guidelines and tools Training is provided at no cost.
