Found in 1956 by John D. Rockefeller 3 rd in New York, Asia Society is a leading non-profit educational organisation dedicated to promoting mutual understanding and strengthening partnerships among peoples, leaders and institutions of Asia and the United states in a global context. Across the fields of arts, business, culture, education, and policy, Asia Society provides insight, generates ideas, and promotes collaboration to address present challenges and create a shared future.

Description

  • An affiliate of the Asia Society global network with eleven centers in Asia and the United States, ASHK was established as the first overseas office of Asia Society in 1990 by a group of Hong Kong community leaders, led by the late Sir Q.W. LEE, the Honorary Chairman of Hang Seng Bank.

  • In February 2012, ASHK established its permanent home at the Old Victoria Barracks, Former Explosives Magazine in Admiralty. The 1,364 hectare heritage site is steeped in history, cultural significance and natural beauty.

  • ASHK offers a broad variety of programs and events in the form of lectures, conferences, performances, film screenings, exhibitions and children’s education workshops to the larger community. In the past year up to 30 June 2014, ASHK has hosted over 200 programs and events.
