Mission Statement

Our Mission: Promote programs of research, advocacy, education, support and awareness in order to discover treatments and a cure for polycystic kidney disease and improve the lives of all it affects.

Our Vision: One day, no one will suffer the full effects of polycystic kidney disease.

The PKD Foundation is an organization committed to discovering treatments and a cure for polycystic kidney disease. We are accountable to ourselves, our colleagues and all who share our mission.

Our Guiding Values:

  • Promoting Respect and Integrity
  • Knowing Teamwork is Essential to Our Mission and Success
  • Dedication to Excellence

Dr. Jared J. Grantham and Joseph H. Bruening started the PKD Foundation over 30 years ago with a vision to find treatments and a cure for polycystic kidney disease (PKD). When they started, not much was known about PKD. The genes hadn't been identified and there were only a small number of researchers even working in PKD science. Today, the PKD Foundation is the second largest funder of PKD research. Over the last 30 years, over $31 million has been invested in more than 550 research, clinical and scientific grants, fellowships, scientific meetings and educational programs.

Today, the PKD Foundation leads the fight against PKD through research, education, advocacy, support and awareness. Our goal is simple -- to discover and deliver treatments and a cure for PKD.

You can join our fight. You can help make a difference in the lives of millions of people with PKD.
