Description

The Volunteer Respite Program strengthens families with children who have special needs by giving the parents or caregivers a much-needed break from direct care responsibilities. Parent are able to bring their children to the events where they are matched with a volunteer who will spend the day with the child, participating in a variety of activities available (crafts, basketball, bingo, etc), while the parents get some time to themselves to renew and recharge.

We hold approximately 10+ events throughout the year at various locations in and around the Milwaukee area with approx. 60-80 children attending each event.

Time commitment is generally 8am to 3pm per event.

The children range at the events range in age from infant to 18 years old.

Nursing staff are on-hand for all toileting and medical needs.

Volunteers need to be at least 16 years old.
