Mission Statement

The mission of J-Sei is to be a community and cultural organization that brings generations and families together to nurture and pass on Nikkei values and tradition through a broad array of services and programs. Our resources, information and services are relevant to the entire continuum of care for seniors, as well as their families and all ages of the Nikkei community. Our guiding values include dignity, trust, independence, social connection and respect for elders, as well as communication in families and quality of life for all.

Description

J-Sei has been the only senior service provider focused on supporting Japanese American elderly in the east bay for the past 43 years. Today, J-Sei continues this rich history of supporting families throughout the community with the mission to promote and nurture Nikkei values with a broader multi-ethnic and multi-generational base. Through our Senior Center, classes and activities, congregate Japanese lunches, lectures and educational presentations our seniors stay actively involved. J-Sei also provides resources to help seniors remain independent for as long as possible in their own homes. These services include bilingual case management services, home-delivered Japanese meals, a pilot transportation program, Friendly Visitor/Friendly Caller programs, a caregiver registry and long term care consulting. J-Sei Home is a licensed residential care facility for the elderly in Hayward that provides warm, supportive and culturally appropriate care to 14 residents.
