Description

Are you a retired handyman, HVAC expert, plumber, or electrician? Or perhaps you'd enjoy meeting other treehuggers, packrats, or thrifty folks while sorting through old materials or sending mailings

Help lift up DC area communities at our new home-improvement thrift store (5 min. from DC). The reuse of building materials is a winning situation for all involved! Half of our donations come from deconstruction, when a home is taken apart by hand rather than demolished with machinery. This creates jobs, uses less fuel, & costs less than traditional demolition. Property owners avoid dumping fees and earn tax deductions. The materials are sold cheaply, so homeowners, nonprofits, and small businesses can afford repairs, making neighborhoods cleaner and safer. Renovators can find antique trim and hardware to preserve historic buildings. And everyone benefits because less virgin material is harvested or mined.
