Mission Statement

Mission Statement To Transform the LC Valley by building relationships that inspire and equip people to end poverty.

Description

We provide seniors & family caregivers who are homebound or otherwise isolated with visitation and companionship. Our volunteers usually visit the senior once a week for approximately one hour.

The LinkAge Program is a product of the work being done by the Community-Eldering Institute. Our seminars, discussion groups and LinkAge visitation uses the Defination of an Elder developed by the Live Oak Project in El Sobrante, CA.
"An Elder is a person who is still growing, still a learner, still with potential, and whose life continues to have within it promise for, and connection to the future.
An Elder is still in pursuit of happiness, joy and pleasure, and her or his birthright to these remains intact. Moreover, an Elder is a person who deserves respect and honor and whose work it is to synthesize wisdom from long life experience and formulate this into a legacy for future generations."
LinkAge charges no fees for visitation.

Circles™ is an intentional way for people to build relationships across class and race lines to end poverty in their communities. Circles™ is a high impact strategy that will: Ø Change the mind-set of the community so it wants to end poverty Ø Change goals, policies, and approaches to end poverty and, Ø Empower people in poverty to help solve community problems while transitioning out of poverty themselves.
