Mission Statement

To help individuals and families who are at risk achieve and/or maintain the maximum level of independence they can, with the highest "quality of life" in a result oriented, cost effective manner that respects the dignity and worth of those we seek to serve.

Description

The Northern Area Multi Service Center (NAMS) is the "parent" agency of a network of three, non-profit, health and human services agencies based in Allegheny County. This network (the "Northern Area Companies") includes: NAMS, Pennsylvania Residential Developers, Inc. (PRD), and Landmark Home Health Care Services.

The Northern Area Companies have grown from a single storefront community action agency formed in 1969 to a sophisticated health and human services network with an annual budget exceeding $14 million. Core services include: ACCESS Transportation, Intellectual Disabilities/Developmental Disabilities, Community Assistance and Refugee Resettlement, In-Home Support Services, Home Health Care, Senior Centers, Home Delivered Meals, Nursing Home Transition and the Supportive Living Enhancement Program (SLEP). The companies share common governance and a single vision:

Building Independence
This single vision unifies a set of seemingly diverse services. NAMS is working consistently to build independence, whether we provide supportive transportation to help people access health services, nursing services to help individuals recover from illness in their homes, strategies for helping folks manage chronic health conditions, supportive housing services for individuals who have disabilities, or resettlement services to political or ethnic refugee families
