Mission Statement

Samaritan Center of Puget Sound seeks to restore hope, reconcile relationships and participate in the transformation of lives. We provide counseling, education, consultation, mediation and other services for individuals, families, congregations and organizations.

Since February of 2014, we also offer a volunteer-based program called CareTeams that helps build a community of compassion.

Description

Samaritan Center is the new home of CareTeams, a 16-year old Seattle agency began under the umbrella of Multifaith Works.

CareTeams are groups of 4-7 volunteers who provide a network of practical and emotional support to a person or household affected by the loneliness, isolation, and stigma of HIV/AIDS and other life challenges. CareTeam members build supportive relationships with our CarePartners (those we serve) by listening to them. Working together to build a community of compassion.

Trained Volunteers are brought together to create a supportive CareTeam. The Team is then matched with and individual who is isolated and faces daily challenges due to HIV/AIDS and other challenges.

Each CareTeam is different as the gifts and abilities of the volunteers differ. CarePartners come with varying needs and wishes as well. We learn from each other and together become stronger.

Support is provided by CareTeams staff and other HIV/AIDS service providers help us in supporting the CarePartner.
