Mission Statement

CLEARING is a 501c3 non-profit organization whose mission is supporting education for environmental literacy. This is accomplished through the development of resources that provide educators of all ages and subject matter with the tools to conduct innovative and powerful learning activities, and by providing a forum for communicating and sharing ideas that advance the cause of environmental literacy.

Description

CLEARING is a web-based and print publication that connects teachers with the best ideas, activities and resources for environmental literacy education. We work with a broad partnership of organizations, agencies, universities, and others to share best practices from around the Pacific Northwest and provide a means of communications between teachers in all corners of the region. We publish a quarterly online magazine and produce an annual print publication that circulates throughout the PNW. The website is a forum for sharing ideas and innovative teaching strategies, along with perspectives on issues related to environmental education, environmental literacy, STEM education, sustainability, and place-based learning.
