Description

The GAL Program trains, recruits and supervises volunteers who are courtappointed to represent and advocate for the best interests of children involving allegations of abuse and neglect.

The South Carolina Guardian ad Litem Program is a division of the Govern's Office. As a volunteer GAL, you will be part of a large statewide network of community-base advocates. Through in-service trainging and conferences, you will be able to advocate for the best interest of children in the child welfare system and in family court proceedings involving allegations of abuse and neglect. You will do an indepedent investigation of the allegations which will include interview the child(ren) and family memebers and report your findings and well as your recommendations of the best interest of the child to the Family Court.
