If you answered yes to these questions, then Beacon Hospice Fall River is the place for you to share the gift of your presence! The needs are simple-companionship and friendship, emotional support and someone to listen. The small things you can do make an enormous difference in a hospice patients' life. Volunteers can assist patients by reading, playing cards, listening to music, playing games, sitting quietly holding their hand or just being present. Telephone Support Calls - these calls are made to the patient or families of the patient to support them during the hospice journey. Volunteers can also help by knitting or crocheting blankets - for our patients and our Veteran patients. Red, White or Blue blankets and quilts are always needed to celebrate our Veterans. Making posters - creating Chart A Life poster (patient historical background reflecting who they are and what they did in life). Administrative Volunteers - help our hospice office staff with day-to-day activities, scanning, filing, some computer data entry work and so many other ways. Our care center serves many communities, stretching from Fall River, New Bedford, to Brockton, East Bridgewater, Wrentham and Attleboro, MA. Beacon Hospice provides quality end of life care to terminally ill patients throughout Bristol County. We are always looking for blankets to share with our patients including our Veteran patients. These blankets not only brighten up our patient's room, but more importantly provide warmth and comfort. We are especially in need of Red, White and Blue Blankets for your Veterans. Yarn will be provided if needed. This opportunity can be done at home and on your own time. Beacon Hospice is looking for Veteran Volunteers to help provide companionship with people who have served our country and are now approaching the end of life. We understand Veteran patients have different needs and we try to match Veteran Volunteers with them. Veteran Volunteers have the unique ability to relate and connect with Veteran patients and their families. Volunteers make a difference in several ways, including but not limited to: - Offering Companionship - Reading Books or Writing Letters - Playing Chess, Cards, Bingo, Board Games, etc. - Watching TV or Listening to Music Beacon Hospice will train all who are interested in helping others find some comfort in their final days. You can give as little as an hour a week, or as much time as you would like. YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN SOMEONE'S LIFE!!
