If you've answered affirmatively, Beacon Hospice Fall River invites you to bestow the gift of your presence! The requirements are straightforward: companionship, friendship, emotional support, and a listening ear. The seemingly minor things you do can significantly impact a hospice patient's life. Volunteers may aid patients by: Reading, playing cards, enjoying music, engaging in games, sitting silently while holding their hand, or simply being there. Telephone Support Calls - these calls are made to support the patient or their families throughout the hospice journey. Volunteers are also welcome to knit or crochet blankets for our patients, including those who are veterans. Blankets and quilts in red, white, or blue are continually needed to honor our veterans. Creating Biography posters - designing a Chart A Life poster that encapsulates a patient's life history and their accomplishments. Our care center caters to numerous communities, spanning from Fall River, New Bedford, to Brockton, East Bridgewater, Wrentham, and Attleboro, MA. Beacon Hospice provides compassionate care for terminally ill patients throughout Bristol County. We are always in need of blankets to bring comfort and warmth to our patients, including veterans. These blankets not only brighten our patients' rooms but also provide a sense of comfort and security. Specifically, we are in need of Red, White, and Blue blankets to honor our veterans. Yarn is provided if needed. This volunteer work can be done from home at your own pace. We are looking for Retired Healthcare workers who are interested in spending some quality time with our patients who are approaching end of life. You know as a healthcare worker how important it is for patients to have someone to talk to, some to reminisce with and someone to hold their hands. We have many patients who are in need of someone like you, who can spend about 30 to 60 minutes of time with them. You know how to listen, offers support and compassion to hospice patients. Volunteers are needed to visit with hospice patients to provide companionship and socialization. Patients enjoy having a friendly visitor to talk to and reminisce on their life. Volunteers can help write letters and cards for the patient, watch tv with them, take a walk, play games and so on.
