Mission Statement

The RIA House vision is to contribute to a world where women who have experienced commercial sexual exploitation and sex trafficking have access to services and economic opportunities. Our mission is to provide adult women survivors of sexual exploitation and sex trafficking:

1) peer counseling

2) education

3) social entrepreneurial business training

4) and, ultimately a safe and sustaining home community.

Our programming recognizes the importance of social relationships and mentorship as integral tools to healing and managing complex trauma. RIA House seeks to offer survivor-led community support groups beginning in 2014; to open a drop-in center location by 2016; and to open a home community in 2017.

Description

RIA House - Ready.Inspire.Act. is a nonprofit organization committed to providing peer counseling, support services, economic opportunities, and a home community in Massachusetts with adult women who have experienced sexual slavery, exploitation and/or trafficking. In the United States, and around the world, children (sometimes as young as three or four years old, on average 12 to 14 years old) are bought and sold for commercial sexual exploitation and sex trafficking. The majority of these children are girls. In the future, as these girls reach young adulthood and beyond, it is our hope that they will look to RIA House as a pathway to self-discovery, healing, and leadership.
