The Houston Galveston Institute, formerly the Galveston Family Institute, is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization established in 1978 and is internationally recognized for its innovative contributions to the advancements of theory, psychotherapy practice, and research. The Institute continues to encourage theoretical and clinical exploration where clinical services, training and research are intertwined providing a collaborative and dynamic environment.
The Institute's therapy staff includes Clinical Faculty, licensed therapists, therapists completing their licensure, and doctoral and masters level students who work under the direct supervision of the Clinical Faculty. Our therapists typically hold master's degrees, or are completing their coursework, in marriage and family therapy, psychology, clinical social work, or other mental health disciplines. They are experienced in working with a wide range of clients in a variety of settings, such as mental health agencies, psychiatric hospitals, community agencies, crisis centers, Child Protective Services before entering their training with the Institute.
