Description

Get Your Guts in Gear - The Ride for Crohn's & Colitis ("GYGIG"), is an independent, national, nonprofit organization that raises awareness of Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis and related conditions through cycling events that benefit and support IBD organizations and patient advocacy groups. GYGIG creates and produces well-organized, participant-centric events so that participants feel empowered, accomplished and part of a greater community.

Since our founding in 2003 and our first Ride in 2004, GYGIG has empowered the IBD community, while raising awareness and funds for Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, and ostomy-related issues.

Our unique event brings together patients, caregivers, family and friends who are affected by the disease, in addition to fitness enthusiasts and volunteers who simply want to support a good cause. Through our cycling events, we raise awareness for a disease, IBD (inflammatory bowel disease), which is not widely known, despite the fact that IBD affects 1 in every 200 Americans and there are over 50,000 children currently living with IBD.

Our events are more than bicycle rides, and are unique in the IBD and ostomy communities. We not only raise funds, but we create a sense of community that inspires and empowers our participants long after our events are done.

We are excited that 2014 will mark Get Your Guts in Gear, Inc.'s eleventh annual Hudson River Valley New York Ride, in addition to our first annual Sandusky, Ohio Ride and Atlanta, Georgia Ride. This year, GYGIG will expand on its current market by introducing formatting changes including the creation of a one day Ride, and incorporating lower mileage options. We anticipate that 2014 will be one of our biggest years yet, and invite you to join us!
