The Volunteer Ombudsman program is designed to protect the rights of elderly and disabled people living in long term care facilities such as health care centers and nursing homes.

Volunteer Ombudsman
In collaboration with the State of Wisconsin Board on Aging and Long Term Care, JFS is recruiting and training volunteer ombudsman. As a volunteer you must enjoy helping others and making a difference in their lives. Have a desire to learn new skills and increase knowledge. Willing to commit 6 months of volunteer time. Willing to devote 2-3 hours per week to residents of an assigned nursing home. Willing to attend intitial 6 hour training and periodic in-services thereafter. Volunteers will make a difference by listening to and interacting with the people living in the facility, observing general facility conditions, problem solve, report observations, support resident's rights, privacy, and confidentiality issues, referring urgent concerns to the Regional Ombudsman. For more information or to receive a sign-up form, contact Sally Kehl at JFS 414225-1398 or volunteer@jfsmilw.org
