Description
We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing homeless dogs and ensuring that they are placed in loving, caring homes. Dogs are rescued both from the euthanasia list at animal shelters and from people who are no longer able to care for their animals. We rescue the dogs that no one else wants. Whether left to die in the local shelter or starving and homeless on the streets, we take them in, provide them with medical care, spay and neuter services, micro-chips, vaccinations and behavioral training. After careful screening of the potential new family, we attempt to adopt the dogs to the best home possible.

History
Caring for Canines was born from one girl’s love and compassion for animals and her desire to help change the plight of homeless dogs. At fourteen years of age, Sarah Duncan started rescuing dogs and in 1992, Caring for Canines was established. Later, in 2003, Caring for Canines became a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Since then, the organization has continued to grow as family, friends, and other members of the community have joined the cause and because of this support, more dogs are saved each week and placed in loving homes.
In the past 20 years, Caring for Canines has rescued over 5,000 homeless dogs and given them a second chance at life. We hope to save even more in the next 20 years.
