Mission Statement
The Bonita Historical Society is dedicated to preserving, for public education and enjoyment, the culture, history, arts, crafts, and aesthetic facets of the region, specifically El Rancho de la Naçion in South San Diego County.
Description
The Museum provides the communities of Bonita, National City, Chula Vista and Imperial Beach a place to go where they can learn about art, local history, anthropology and natural history specific to this region.
The Museum's permanent local history gallery takes visitors from the earliest inhabitants of the area, the Kumeyaay Indians, through the early days of California history and Statehood and into the agricultural development for which this area was known. Gallery II is dedicated to changing exhibits and serves as a space for local artists to display paintings, sculptures, photography and crafts. This gallery has also hosted a variety of history, anthropological and natural history exhibits for the enjoyment and education of our visitors. We have a space for student art and a dedicated exhibit area for local civic organizations and cultural organizations.
