The Alzheimer's Association National Capital Area is looking for volunteers who are willing and able to help collect participant stories. Once you've gathered the story from the participant, either by email or interview, we need you to write them up for our marketing team to pitch to local media outlets. This is great for someone looking for journalism experience, enjoys writing and learning about cool people in our community, and has a passion for fighting Alzheimer's disease. This position can be done from anywhere in the United States. Our Chapter serves the local Washington-DC metro area, including lower Maryland, District of Columbia and northern Virginia. Timeline and expectations: We have a couple signature events happening in the Spring- Ride to End Alz (May 4th) and The Longest Day (June 20th). As we prepare for those events, participant stories will emerge and will need to be written. Some can happen now, others may be closer to the event (about one month prior). If you are only able to write one story, that's great and helpful! If you can do multiple stories, we need that too! This is a flexible position and will work closely with our Constituent Events Manager and have some guidance and oversight from our Director of Marketing and Communications. Thank you for your interest! Carrie

Do you have a passion for running? Looking for a challenge? The Alzheimer's Association is looking for dedicated runners to join us for the Marine Corps Marathon weekend on October 27th in Washington, DC. If you are passionate about running and equally passionate about supporting the Alzheimer's Association mission: leading the way to end Alzheimer's and all other dementia - by accelerating global research, driving risk reduction and early detection, and maximizing quality care and support; then WE NEED YOU! In 2023, marathon runners across the country competed in Boston, NY, Chicago, LA and the Pittsburgh Marathon collectively raising a few million dollars. Alzheimer's disease is a long and difficult journey, similar to a marathon. It is a beautiful way to honor a loved one, have a healthy outlet from caregiving and encourages self-care. The more runners we can recruit to add MEANING to their MILES, the sooner we will achieve our ultimate goal: a world without Alzheimer's and all other dementia. Register for our team at alz.org/nca/events/marine-corps-marathon. Questions, contact Carrie Myatt at cemyatt@alz.org According to race rules, must be 10 years or older and be able to maintain a 20 minute mile. We hope you'll join us!
