We believe a college education is one of the surest ways to break the cycle of poverty. By providing long-term services and resources that support the WHOLE student, we are creating an environment where students can triumph over their circumstances, succeed in school, and thrive in their lives. Operation Jump Start helps low-resourced, high potential first-generation students get in, stay in, and graduate from a four-year college. We do this by providing academic support, mentoring, and exposure to a broader world.
OJS is a nonprofit, college access mentoring program that provides supplemental enrichment programs to low-income, first generation students who show academic promise. Like our students, mentors are hand-selected and matched with a student/mentee as an adult role-model. Mentors guide their mentee through their high school career as an additional support, guide, and most importantly, a friend.
Mentors must be have a BA degree or in the process of obtaining a BA. Minimum requirement is 1 year commitment. Attached you will find the complete mentor application packet and the current calendar of events.Once your application is received, one of our program managers will review and contact you to schedule an interview. This process helps us ensure that we are matching the perfect mentor-mentee team.
