Description
Hospice volunteering...an unselfishness act with enormous benefit.
Hospice volunteers are unique and special individuals; they are not chosen, they are called. When this call is answered, a difference is made in the life of both patient and family. You share yourself...a hospice volunteer is the heart of the hospice program.
Hospice volunteers have the qualities needed, such as holding a hand, a simple smile, reading, or sitting with the patient in order for the caregiver to have some time to care for themselves. The care and concern given by the volunteer is something that cannot be bought - it comes straight from the heart. A few hours a month can make such a difference in the life of the patient and family.
Prospective hospice volunteers are required to complete a 12-hour comprehensive training session after which they can be assigned to a patient, assigned to visit in nursing facilities, assist in the office or help in numerous areas within a hospice agency. The needs are many, everyone has something to share and you are needed!
Are you willing to give of yourself? Please consider becoming a part of the hospice team and make that difference in someone's life.
