Transforming Youth into Global Citizens who will Shape the Future through Media and Action.
Description
The International Youth Media Summit (IYMS) is a yearly summit which brings together filmmakers and teen diplomats from around the world to explore ways to inspire and empower their generation to shape the future through media and action.
It was founded in 2006. Its success launched an annual event at which young people from around the globe gather for ten days to make short public service films (PSA's) about seven issues that they have identified as most necessary to be addressed in order to create a peaceful and prosperous planet. These include the environment, health, poverty, violence, discrimination, women's rights and youth empowerment. Students form issue groups, write scripts, and their own declarations of action, create story boards, cast their projects, film and edit them. The students' public service films are then screened at the Summit's closing night ceremonies and subsequently at screenings around the world.
THE 9TH IYMS
The 9th summit will be hosted at Soka University of America (SUA) from July 14th, 2014 to July 27th, 2014.
