AR Kids Read is a community service initiative that provides Central Arkansas children who read below grade level with a volunteer reading tutor. Our goal is to provide a tutor to all children who need one.
AR Kids Read volunteer reading tutors donate one hour a week for 12 weeks each semester to work on reading comprehension with a child.
Tutors work primarily with 2nd and 3rd grade students in the schools in the Little Rock, North Little Rock, and Pulaski County school districts during the school day.
We have three requirements for tutors. You must love children, have a passion for reading, and be willing to make the 12 week commitment to work with a child. This is because we want tutors to establish a strong relationship with the child they are working with as we know that all learning, including reading, occurs best when these relationships are established.
