Provide emotional support and reassurance to isolated, at risk elderly

The ElderVention program focuses on the prevention of depression, anxiety, and suicide in older adults. Prevention specialists provide prevention education to seniors in their homes and in senior and community centers. The ElderVention volunteer program supplements the prevention education by providing older adults with reassurance, companionship, and emotional support. Volunteers help bring a sense of connection to someone who is isolated and in need of a caring relationship with a compassionate volunteer. Training is provided for the volunteer prior to meeting with the program participant. Volunteers can be matched to participants by geograpical area.
