Make a Difference in Your Community!

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) provides opportunities for people 55 and over to make a difference in their community through volunteer service. RSVP volunteers contribute anywhere from a few to over forty hours a week, serving through schools, day care centers, police departments, hospitals and other nonprofit and public organizations to help meet critical community needs. RSVP offers maximum flexibility and choice to its volunteers. RSVP matches the personal interests and skills of older Americans with opportunities to help solve community problems and offers supplemental insurance while on duty, and on-the-job training from the agency or organization where volunteers are placed.

Come over and join the hundreds of volunteers in the Rio Grande Valley that are making a difference in their communities. Be part of over 37 Volunteer Stations for you to participate in Hidalgo, Cameron and Willacy Counties. Volunteers use personal kills and experience in helping others in need, make new friends and be recognized.

With RSVP, you choose how and where you want to serve. You choose the amount of time you want to give. And you choose whether you want to draw on your skills or develop new ones. You will also find the opportunity that's right for you. RSVP offers a variety of volunteer opportunities: * Mobilize other volunteers * Mentor or tutor children * Assist at food pantries * Clean the environment * And much, much, more. When you volunteer, you're not just helping others - you're helping yourself. Volunteering leads to new friends. And studies show that volunteering helps you live longer and promotes a positive outlook on life. In addition, with RSVP you'll receive supplemental insurance while on duty. And once a year all RSVP Volunteers are honored with a recognition banquet. It's a great program.
