TRS focuses on innovative technology based on new and existing research. The company’s core business model focuses on identifying causes impacting our lives, establishing or investigating the needed research, and commercializing the technology needed to make an immediate impact on society. This approach is based on a research-to-rapid prototyping methodology where emphasis is based on short-term innovative solutions through the implementation of technology. TRS was founded in 2008 and reorganized in 2012, as an education based innovator. Our staff and support team combine industry and academia to identify the latest technology through student-lead research while collaborating with industry leaders to produce solutions impacting to the end-users. Volunteer Roles & Responsibility The volunteer DBaaS developer will be a part of a development team focused on developing web accessible databases exclusively for the use of mobile app data exchange. The DBaaS will be used as an integral part of a mobile development platform for the implementation of assistive technology. This opportunity will follow strategies derived from the CouchDB OpenSource project. The software development aspect will focus primarily on developing a server-side solution geared toward the health and welfare of individuals with impairments with limitations of self monitoring or providing self-regulated care. Required Skills The welcomed volunteer would be familiar with JSON, GitHub, JavaScript, Http, and basic understanding of SQL. Other Relevant Skills Other relevant skills beneficial to the program would include Web Services and/or Amazon Web Services (AWS). Intended Use of DBaaS Solutions The volunteer DBaaS developer will develop a server-side solution to support applications of Traumatic Brain Injury, Dementia, PTSD or other possible cross-compatible domains with core relativity to assistive technology for the impaired. Additionally, the welcomed candidate should have a winning attitude, willing to work with cross-functional teams, willing to share findings, meet deadlines/milestones, and have interest in philanthropy. Participants in this volunteer program will be required to actively volunteer each week. The amount of hours you volunteer are based on your initial pledge. Specific Role & Responsibility of the Volunteer The volunteer engineer will be a part of a volunteer engineering team focused on various functions such as electrical engineering (general), power electronics, schematic capture, modeling & simulation (specific focus on netlist generation), PCB design, electrical M-CAD integration (ie..SolidWorks Electrical), and systems engineering application (functional). The goal of this electrical engineering team is to collaboratively develop hardware solutions to aid individuals challenged with Traumatic Brain Injury, Dementia/Alzheimer’s, PTSD, or other possible cross-compatible domains with core relativity to assistive technology for the cognitively impaired, tele-medical application, or individuals with disabilities. Core Skill Requirements Candidates sought should have experience in some OR all of the following: electrical/electronic design, power systems, schematic capture/blue-print design, Computer-Aided Design (CAD) Other useful skills ( but not required): *Individuals with background in Autodesk Electrical, Matlab, Solidworks Electrical Participation Expectations The welcomed candidate should have a winning attitude, willing to work with cross-functional teams, willing to share findings, meet deadlines/milestones, and have interest in philanthropy. The welcomed candidate should have a winning attitude, willing to work with cross-functional teams, willing to share findings, meet deadlines/milestones, and have interest in philanthropy. The volunteer GitHub Integrator will focus on software solutions for data (source code) migration on mobile devices and desktops. The GitHub Integrator will manage the repository integrity and baselines to assure that the software commits are uniform and baselined for user friendliness among software developers and collaborators. The GitHub Integrator will work with a development team that collaboratively develops mobile solutions to aid individuals challenged with Traumatic Brain Injury, Dementia/Alzheimer’s, PTSD or other possible cross-compatible domains with core relativity to assistive technology for the impaired. Required Skills Candidates sought should have experience in some OR all of the following: GitHub mobile applications, GitHub desktop applications, GIT (subversioning), GitHub Key Management, and OpenSource development. Generally individuals with the requested experience and background are software developers.
