Mission Statement

We believe that people with disabilities or the eldery who desire to live independently have the right to do so. We aim to support this population by connecting them to trained, qualified personal care assistants so they can continue to live in the comfort of their own home.

Description

TAPcare is a program of the IHSS Consortium. Since 1985, the Consortium has provided in-home support for frail elders and people with disabilities living in San Francisco. The Consortium is a major provider of in-home support services to clients of San Francisco's Department of Aging and Adult Services, delivering more than 8.5 million hours of in-home support services to more than 12,000 San City residents since 1994. The Consortium, a registered 501c3 not-for-profit corporation founded and headquartered in San Francisco, is a direct employer of more than 430 Personal Care Assistants with an administrative staff of 64.

Through TAPCA, the Training Academy for Personal Care Assistants (another Consortium program), the agency has graduated more than 1,000 Personal Care Assistants from its extensive and nationally-recognized training program.

TAPcare is funded through grants from San Francisco's Office of Economic & Workforce Development and through the Metta Fund, a foundation supporting health initiatives for the citizens of San Francisco.
