Volunteers make a difference!
RSVP of Steuben County provides opportunities for people ages 55 and over to make a significant impact in their communities through volunteering. Volunteers contribute anywhere from a few hours a month to over 40 hours a week serving in their communities. Opportunities to serve include volunteering at local hospitals and nursing homes, schools, food pantries, public safety programs, and other nonprofit agencies and organizations. RSVP staff assist volunteers in sharing their experience, abilities and skills for the betterment of the community and themselves. Volunteer orientation, on-site training, supplemental insurance (while on duty), and mileage reimbursement are free services available for RSVP volunteers.

I enjoyed my first volunteer experience with RSVP assembling Emergency Preparedness Kits for homebound seniors. The best thing about being involved with RSVP is that you get so many opportunities to work with different organizations and nonprofits: Red Cross, ProAction, libraries, schools, SPCA, Catholic Charities, and even the Glen Curtis Museum! RSVP is a one stop spot for everything that you want to do as a volunteer. :)
