Mission Statement

Scott-Free provides children with opportunities to explore and discover their own abilities, dreams, and desires by exposing them to a world outside their own surroundings. Through thoughtful donations, The Scott-Free Scholarship Foundation pairs at risk children with unique camp environments, in order to nurture already identified talents in some and allow for discovery in others.

Description

The Scott-Free Scholarship Foundation is a volunteer based 501(c)(3) from Raleigh, North Carolina. Scott-Free is committed to its mission of pairing and sending at risk youth to summer camps and educational programs around North Carolina, Virginia and beyond. Our vision is to make a positive difference in children’s lives by exposing them to new relationships, new activities and encouragement in a safe, stable, structured environment promoting healthy self-confidence and self-worth. To that end, we collaborate with camps each summer that offer education, sports, technology, theater, music and arts, programs. In order to facilitate these opportunities for at risk children, it is vital that we constantly expand our scholarship fund and community of lasting donors. Reaching these goals should enable an increasing number of children to attend camp each year.

We send a wide scope of at-risk children to both day camps and sleep-away camps. This wide scope encompasses children that experience various at-risk factors, such as having a parent endure a terminal illness or children residing at homeless shelters with their caregivers at one end of the spectrum. At the other end, we have children that have a solid support system at home, but the family lacks supplemental funds to send their kids to camp. All eligible families share one common thread, that summer camp would be financially inaccessible without external support. Currently we collaborate with 27 different camps that range from sports, science, math, arts, theater, wildlife adventures, cooking and music, etc. We accept new applicants from the ages of 8 to 17 years of age.
