Mission Statement

NFL Player Moise Fokou founded the Root 53 Foundation to give back to under-served youth. Root 53 believes that every child has a right to live a healthy, happy and confident life. Growing up in under-served communities, without many resources or in economically disadvantaged households prevents many kids from being able to live a happy and healthy life.

Providing additional support that come in the form of mentorship, extracurricular hands-on learning opportunities and the donation of resources, such as school supplies, will help kids develop the skills they need despite any inevitable challenges they may be faced with.

The Root 53 Foundation gives children from under-served communities, particularly in Tennessee and Maryland, extracurricular hands-on learning opportunities called Root 53 Workshops.

Description

Our Root 53 Workshops engage professionals in the community to donate their time and talent to teach kids essential skills that will give them the self-sufficiency, independence and confidence to thrive. We are now launching a complementary initiative, the Root 53 Future Rulers Program, which will further provide young people the tools they need to succeed.

The objectives of the Root 53 Future Rulers Program are to reinforce the lessons taught in the Root 53 Workshops through an extensive rewards and teamwork experience.

The structure of the program also further engages the community and permeates the message by having local volunteers share their knowledge and life experiences. Kids earn different levels of awards collectively as a group when they demonstrate competency in the skills taught in the workshops and when they continue to live that messaging on their own time.
