The purpose of the Client Outreach Volunteer position is to support the organization by reaching out to current and former clients and getting their feedback to help improve our operations. The Client Outreach Volunteer helps to strengthen communcation, improve operational efficiency, and foster positive relationships with those we serve, ultimately contributing to the overall success and mission of the organization. If you have strong communication skills, enjoy interacting with others, are organized and able to work as part of a team, and are comfortable with computers and technology, this could be the volunteer job for you! The volunteer work can happen either at our office or from home - it's flexible! We will provide a way for you to call and receive messages that does not risk revealing your private phone number. Onboarding includes filling out an application packet, submitting to a background check, and obtaining a Level 1 fingerprint clearance card (PCOA will cover the cost). You will also meet with the Volunteer Services Program Manager to ensure a good fit for all parties involved. Volunteers will assist in identifying funding opportunities and preparing proposals that help sustain critical services for older adults in Pima County. Prior experience with nonprofit grants, research, or professional writing is needed. Flexible schedule; work may be done remotely. Dementia Cares Ministry, in partnership with PCOA, is seeking volunteers in the Green Valley area and virtually to help in various roles. Memory Cafe Assistant: help with set-up, clean-up, greeting, hosting and/or record-keeping along with others on the team. Team members also meet separately to plan for future Memory Cafes. Volunteers should have knowledge of/familiarity with topics related to dementia, with some training provided. Forums: held monthly to provide community education about dementia, including topics involving medical, social, and psychological impact. Work as part of a team to plan and host forums. Volunteers should have some knowledge of these issues and help identify potential topics and speakers. Stressbusters: A structured program for caregivers of those with dementia, providing tools to help reduce the impact of stress in their lives. Volunteers will undergo a 4 - 6 hour training to be group leaders. Volunteers should have experience in teaching or small group facilitation. Caregiver Support Group Leaders: a more informal setting for caregivers to share stories and receive support. Experience with group facilitation is preferred. For all roles, volunteers should expect to undergo a background check, and be interviewed to ensure a good fit for all. While some roles will need to be in-person, others can sometimes happen over Zoom. The Caregiver Support Group volunteer position serves as part of the Family Caregiver Support Program team. They assist in providing support group facilitation to family caregivers. In addition to facilitating one or more support group(s), this position provides support, resources, and education to family caregivers to help them effectively care for their loved ones. This may include helping caregivers to make proactive decisions, solve complex problems, or cope with difficult emotions related to caregiving. The support group volunteer would refer participants to other members of the Family Caregiver Support Program team for further assistance, resources, and referrals as needed. The volunteer would take notes on each caregiver’s situation and provide these notes to the Family Caregiver Support Group Specialist to be uploaded to the agency database. To volunteer in this role, experience in Counseling, Social Work or Chaplaincy is needed. Onboarding as a Volunteer with PCOA also requires an application, background check, and a Level-1 Fingerprint Clearance Card (paid for by PCOA). Caregiver Support Groups are held at various locations in Pima County including Green Valley, Marana, Oro Valley, Tucson Estates and other locations in the city of Tucson.
