Mission Statement

The African American Community Health Advisory Committee's (AACHAC) vision is to eliminate health disparities through innovation models of health education and services across the generations and diverse communities.

Description

From our beginnings 18 years ago, the African American Community Health Advisory Committee (AACHAC) has grown from an all-volunteer organization to one that is now a hub- a center of excellence others consult when they want to reach or work with communities of color.

We always have been a mission-driven group, and as we grow, we are adding more accountability and structure to the organization. Our affiliation with Mills-Peninsula Health Services has given us freedom to explore innovative ways to meet the needs of our communities. We have been fortunate to find and connect with a strong base of corporate funders, faith-based organizations, and members of the nonprofit sector who reflect the same values we do.

With uncommon energy, dedication, and an innovative outlook, AACHAC has enjoyed many notable accomplishments. We have provided signature awareness events, workshops, health fairs with a full range of community resources, programs, and seminars that have featured up-to-the-minute, relevant information and access to top notch health care professionals. These programs and professionals have galvanized participants to learn more about their health and take personal responsibility for achieving and maintaining healthier lifestyles.
