Mission Statement
To provide aid for the children, families and schools in and from the Chernobyl Nuclear Accident of 1986
Description
Our program provides in country assistance such as food, clothing, medical and school supplies, in country camps for and health respite opportunities in the US for qualified children from several villages in the Chernobyl Nuclear Accident radiation fallout zone in the little country of Belarus.
One or more Board members travel to Belarus yearly to purchase and deliver needed items to about 5 villages in the Gomel region, closest to the Chernobyl plant in Ukraine. We also arrange and facilitate health respite trips for between 10-25 children and translators to the Seattle area for about 6 weeks each summer.
During that visit, we mount a Medical Screening which can help determine the health status and needs of each child and translator. We work hard to find medical providers who can help in the testing process and who can provide treatment once the need has been established.
Our organization is run on donations, host contributions and services provided by medical and non medical volunteers.
